YMCA REBELS CHEER |

We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities |

The YMCA REBEL’s competitive cheer program began in December 2005 with a Senior Prep Level 3 team for students ages 11-18. Since August of 2006, the YMCA has had three separate competitive teams. We have a Mini team for ages 4-8, a Youth team for ages 7-11 and our Junior/Senior team for ages 12-18. Competition season runs from August through March. During competition season, we have practices that focus on learning a competitive routine. About twice a month, we travel and compete against other all star cheer teams in our division from as far North as Redding, as far south as Fresno, and as far west as San Francisco.
At the beginning of March each year, we begin rebuilding our teams for the next competition season and hold classes for anyone interested in improving their floor tumbling and cheer skills regardless of their interest in competing.. Starting in March, our practices focus on gaining skills necessary for the competitive season. Motion technique, jump technique, stunting and floor tumbling are a part of off season practices. Floor tumbling is the largest part of the focus during the off season.
This year we plan to have some changes in our competition program due to community requests. We will continue to have two competitive teams, a youth team for ages ranging from 7-12 years old and a junior or elite team ranging in ages from 9-14 or 12-18 years of age depending on demand and skills. Each team will have specific tumbling requirements to be eligible for competitive team participation. Our third team will no longer exist but instead we will have a year round non-competitive program open to any age 4-18 and any skill level. The focus of this class will be to teach floor tumbling, motion technique and jump technique. Students from this class can either take the class to improve and then try-out for a competitive team or students in this class can take the class as part of the non-competitive program (see detailed class and price descriptions for more information). |
